Daniel Kofi Morteh was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. With an interest in television production he majored in media arts in New Jersey City University.  After interning for Comcast, @radical.media, and Universal Records, Morteh started focusing on his own video project.
Nicknamed “Kodaq Jonez” after college, Morteh worked as a video editor for Hudson Media Group as well as founded TMX Media LLC,(aka The Morteh Experience). He produced dozens of commercials, birthday, weddings videos and webisodes. Around that time he started recording various events involving the Jersey City art movement.
In March of 2011, Morteh decided to break into photography as a way to better his videography skills. He was the photographer for various bands and shot several events such as JC Fridays, The Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival, Black August Hip Hop Fundraiser. Within nine month his work was featured in the Jersey City Arts Studio Tour, Diable Arts Festival and Rising Tide ArtFest.  Morteh’s work is inspired by his motto, “Keep Life on REC”. His work captures and creatively visualizes the spiritual energy of the moment in time so that they can be remembered for generations.
